Considering enrolling in a Kaplan MCAT course? As a service to our members, we are auctioning off a course on eBay. Historically, the winning bid has been hundreds of dollars lower than the regular price of approximately $1800! If you've never used eBay before, it's relatively simple to register! If you have additional questions, contact Webmaster Rohun Palekar (

Hey AMSA!!! During the General Meeting this Thursday we will be collecting donations for the Haiti Disaster Relief. We all know how devastating this disaster was, and as pre-medical students we should do all we can to help out these people in need. All we are asking is that you bring your spare change or a couple of dollars, and we will have a bucket up front to collect all the donations. Just so you guys know all the donations will be going to Partners in Health's Haiti Relief Fund. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity, and we look forward to seeing you all at the meeting! As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact Grace-Marie at

This spring will be our Fourth Annual Mom’s Weekend Brunch. Basically, the Saturday of Mom’s week, April 17th, we host a brunch at Kennedy’s at Stone Creek. We provide a meal, a guest speaker, and host a raffle where all proceeds go towards our Relay For Life Team. Additionally, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet other pre-medical students in AMSA, spend time with your family, and give them a chance to understand an aspect of your life. In the past our guest speakers have talked about subjects such as the HPV vaccine, health programs on campus, and a discussion of the politics of healthcare. In order to plan for this event Heather needs a committee of people to assist in the process. It has a minimal time commitment and you get to become more involved. Heather has meetings about once a month and are half an hour to an hour, where she gives the committee certain tasks to complete for the next meeting. In March we will have an envelope stuff party where we compile all the invitations to mail out. Heather is planning the first meeting for sometime later next week, but will send an email out to those interested giving the exact time and location. Please email Heather at

if you are interested in becoming more involved. Again it is a minimal time commitment and even if you cannot attend the meetings, you can still complete the tasks on your own and contribute. Heather looks forward to working with you soon.

This year, we are requiring our members to hold both "local" and "national" AMSA memberships. The national dues might seem steep, but remember you'll get a free MSAR, discounted Kaplan MCAT courses, etc. After you pay us through PayPal, we'll register you for AMSA national. Edit: After you pay your dues through PayPal, please fill out the brochure attached to this announcement. All you need to fill out is the "Name" and "Address" fields and whether or not you want to get the free subscription to The New Physician (I highly recommend it). If you used your parents credit card, please write their name in the signature field of the brochure, so we can match their name to the credit card payment. We do NOT require your credit card number, as you have already paid through PayPal. Once you have paid your dues and filled out the form, bring the form to the AMSA cubicle in the Illini Union RSO offices (second floor) and place it in the tray marked "Recruitment". 1) If you're a senior and aren't yet a national member: Full Year Local Dues + 1 Years National Dues ($65 total) 2) If you're a junior and aren't yet a national member: Full Year Local Dues + 2 Years National Dues ($85 total) 3) If you're a sophomore and aren't yet a national member: Full Year Local Dues + 3 Years National Dues ($95 total) 4) If you're a freshman and aren't yet a national member: Full Year Local Dues + 4 Years National Dues ($105 total) 5) Two ways to belong to this category: a) If you're in a Kaplan course. You get a discounted national membership, which you need to purchase yourself. Email us when you've registered at

b) If you're already a national member. Good Job! Full Year Local Dues + 0 Years National Dues ($30 total)
